What does it mean to leave everything behind and start over? Five talented artists with a refugee background offer powerful and moving answers in this special exhibition.
From vibrant paintings to thought-provoking installations – each artwork tells a personal story of loss, hope, and resilience. For example, the exhibition includes a piano entirely decorated with hand-painted toothpicks found in a shop near an asylum seekers' center, and a haunting dollhouse reconstructed inside a wall cabinet. In five intimate video portraits, the artists share their backgrounds, experiences, and motivations.
The nominees (A–Z) are:
- Charles Badoue (Ivory Coast)
- Daria Khozhai (Ukraine)
- Shamseddin Moradi (Iran)
- Harrison Omoyater (Nigeria)
- Bogdan Seredyak (Ukraine)
The winner of the Galatea Art Prize, as well as the audience favourite, will be announced on 28 June 2025.
